From 2019 to 2020, João lived in Croatia, where he collaborated with local musicians. He studied and drew inspiration from Balkan music, which culminated in series of arrangements for an ethno jazz quartet, currently touring in Portugal as Džezva.
João's musical projects include bands such as Chapa Dux (albums: Infinitree 2011, Be Strong 2012, #Onelove 2016), Mimicat, Nebuchadnezzar Group (albums: Nebuchadnezzar 2015, Travellers 2018, Cântico 2022), Manuel Rocha 4tet (album: Manuel Rocha Quarteto 2019), João Ferreira e Darko Misirača Quartet, Saša Nestorović Quartet, Vale (album: Vale 2021), Manuel Rocha (album: Arco 2022), João Ferreira Quintet, and Cinese.

Since then, the collective has developed various projects – a collaborative soundwalk  accompanied by a series of videos with the youth from the Rego neighborhood in Lisbon, as part of the A-Place | Connecting Places through Networked Artistic Practices project, which was highlighted at the New European Bauhaus Festival in Brussels in June 2022; three videos and sound pieces developed during a workshop with Pablo Sanz at the Lisboa Soa festival in August 2022; the collaborative audiovisual installation Passages with the association SOMOS  MULHERES, about women experiencing homelessness in Lisbon; audiovisual exploration with the social inclusion project Aqui há Som in the Algarve region; a workshop on collective creation, exploring and mapping the sounds of Barreiro; and finally, Cinese, a multidisciplinary audiovisual project currently in development.
