The HEXA Project (2025)
Nebuchadnezzar Group's The HEXA Project takes listeners on a bold journey through uncharted musical terrain, blending modern jazz with cinematic, almost sci-fi inspired atmospheres. The band's evolution into a sextet with the addition of saxophonist Tiago Vigia and trumpeter Leon Baldsberger adds new dimensions to their sound, where improvisation and structured compositions coexist in an exciting dialogue. The album's rich textures, shifting rhythms, and dramatic harmonic changes create a sense of constant motion, embodying the spirit of exploration and the thrill of the unknown.
Cântico (2022)
Cântico is the Nebuchadnezzar Groups's third studio album, recorded at Canoa Studios. It is supported by Antena 2, a portuguese national broadcaster, and is part of the catalog of the publisher AsUR music.
It includes nine songs made by the collective with the exception of one of the tracks which is an arrangement of the traditional song of the northern region of Croatia called Vehni, Vehni Fijolica. The group invited singer Marta Fiolić, whose interpretation highlighted the melody and poetry of the original song.
The quartet's first two albums consisted only of instrumental music, here, in turn, there are three more vocal compositions - Warrior sung by Cláudio Alves with lyrics written by João Ferreira, Balada Rock where a section of voicings is performed by the band and guest musician Manuel Rocha. And finally, Cântico, the song that gives the album its name, a title that symbolizes the sound that the band sought - using simple, strong and singable melodies in order to connect different musical traditions.
Vale (2021)
Vale is a musical project driven by three musicians and composers, João Ferreira, Manuel Rocha, and Tiago Vigia. It features the participation of double bassist Zé Almeida and drummer Diogo Alexandre. The recording of the first album took place over a week in Vale de São Martinho, Arganil, in March of 2021, and includes nine original tracks recorded outdoors in a rural setting, aiming to capture the surrounding natural sounds – such as dogs barking, birds singing, wind blowing, etc. – which inspired and influenced the musicians in their approach to the themes and compositions. The three composers intended to create a union of their music with the external environment of the village.
Manuel Rocha 4tet (2020)
Manuel Rocha Quarteto é a reunião de quatro músicos que se encontram na amizade e cumplicidade do som e da vida. Chega para quebrar predefinições e às canções aliar o improviso e a interacção de quem encontra na música um mar de experiências.
Travellers (2019)
The themes presented on the Nebuchadnezzar Group's second album Travelers (2019) bring a sincere musical maturity. Some characteristics of styles such as Drum n' Bass and Rock can be found in the interpretation of the themes, making the album a rich effusion of influences.
Nebuchadnezzar (2015)
The album Nebuchadnezzar (2015) was recorded in February 2015 at Fábrica do Braço de Prata in Lisbon. Nebuchadnezzar is also one of the themes of a total of six tracks that make up the first album of originals, a theme that was inspired by the movie “Matrix”, just as Monkeys was inspired by a documentary entitled “Woman raised by the monkeys”.
Our music is a lot of things. There is freedom as a group. We are willing to explore the most diverse timbres and textures.
