JOÃO FERREIRA QUINTETO

The creation of the JOÃO FERREIRA QUINTET stems from pianist João Ferreira’s desire to recreate the energetic grooves and strong, harmonized melodies characteristic of jazz from the 50s and 60s.
The project, which began in Croatia, is now being developed in Portugal.
The goal is to breathe new life into works by great composers of the era such as Horace Silver, Cedar Walton, Benny Golson, and Wayne Shorter, and to ‘resurrect’ the balance and drive of masters like Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers. The lineup of the show also includes original compositions, bringing unique moments to the audience.
